Workplace Literacy
Communication is key to success in all areas of life, especially in business.
Improved English communication skills enable employees to effectively carry out their role in the workplace by building self-confidence and expanding career opportunities. In turn, the business:
- IMPROVES CUSTOMER RELATIONS
- IMPROVES JOB SAFETY
- MINIMIZES EMPLOYEE TURNOVER
- TRAINS STAFF WITH BETTER RESULTS
LVCC’s Workplace Literacy tutors work with non-native speakers employed by Collier County companies and small businesses to help them learn English.
- Classes are held once or twice a week
- Focus is on all levels of English communication skills
- Course work based on Florida Department of Education framework
- Lessons specifically designed to meet the needs of the business
- Pre/post assessment conducted
When employees learn English , it’s a win-win for everyone!

Here is what a few of our WORKPLACE LITERACY partners have to say:
Naples Botanical Garden
“ Literacy Volunteers of Collier County has provided an excellent curriculum that includes basic English as well as a focus on specific terms and phases important to the work our associates do here at the Garden. They now have a greater confidence when speaking English with our guests and their co-workers and look forward to the excellent classes that their teacher provides. Thank you again!”

“What a wonderful experience LVCC’s Workplace Literacy Program was for everyone involved. We loved having the ability to help our employees improve their English and they were so appreciative and willing to learn. This experience was one of the best things we ever did to help our staff do better for themselves, for our company and for our customers.
