Adult Literacy

LVCC offers a range of programs that helps adults get the skills they need to be productive workers, family members and citizens.  Our curriculum enables participants to become proficient in English so they can succeed in their new country and contribute to the diverse community of Collier County.

Aligned with the Florida Department of Education Curriculum ESOL framework, focus is on:

  • speaking
  • reading, writing, and vocabulary
  • listening comprehension

LVCC’s Adult Literacy Classes are conducted either online or in person by LVCC-trained tutors.

Tutoring

LVCC trained tutors meet with adult students once or twice a week for an hour or more.  Either online, in the LVCC office or at a community facility (library, community center, church), tutors meet with students at times that have been agreed upon. Classes focus on collaborative learning and encourage communication, speaking , reading, and writing skills.
